Classroom Presentation Children's Lit

I visited with some of the 5th grade students at the Cameron Middle School in Cameron, Mo yesterday.  After a brief presentation on the elements of being a published author, I shared excerpts from my book, Marshall the Bully Goat.

The students enjoyed meeting Marshall and listening to some of his bully goat antics.

I explained the process of writing books, from the manuscript to editing and publishing.  I told them that they might need illustrations, and if they were good at drawing, they could create their own.  I admitted that I wasn't good at that, so I paid an illustrator, Ann Hougue to illustrate my books for me.  One of the girls presented me with a drawing she'd done of me while I was speaking.  I thanked her and told her she was on her way to being a fantastic illustrator!

I love my school presentations and the questions and comments that come from the children.

Contact me if you'd like an author presentation to your students, at any grade le
